Sudip Mandal
Astrophysicist
Welcome to my website!
My name is Sudip Mandal, and I study the physics of the Sun. Our Sun is an ordinary, average-sized, second-generation, G-type star that has already spent half its lifetime. Despite being a typical star, its proximity to the Earth makes it an excellent laboratory to test our stellar evolutionary theories and other cosmological experiments. An aspect of modern-day solar physics research is to understand the fundamental physical processes responsible for violent solar events such as solar flares, coronal mass ejections (CMEs), and solar wind surges. In a technologically advanced space era (with several commercial and research satellites operating in space), it has become ever more critical than before to study the effects of these violent solar eruptions on our Earth and the space between the Sun and Earth, the ‘space weather’.
